Heavy Metal began out being described as hard rock being played with more aggression and volume. The Term came from Steppen Wolfs "Born To Be Wild". Every band brought their own flavour to the mix. Led Zeppelin brought a fantasy feel, Deep Purple brought symphonic and medievil themes while Black Sabbath brought a gothic and modal harmony. All around the music had a darker sound. Heavy Metal still influences bands today such as Motorhead and Judis Priest.
